‘Natural’ preservatives in food linked to high blood pressure, heart attacks

— sodium nitrite, potassium nitrate, sorbates, potassium metabisulfite, acetates and acetic acid — were linked to up to a 32% higher risk of prostate cancer, breast cancer and cancer of all kinds. All but one of those same preservatives also boosted the risk of developing type 2 diabetes by 49%.
